Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

NoobVenture is a personal brand and small independent operation based in Norway, publishing a tech & gaming blog, downloadable tools, a small shop, and a portfolio at noobventure.com. The site is built and maintained by gamenoob92. For privacy-related questions, use the contact form on the home page.

2. What data we collect

When you interact with the site we may collect:

• Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and the message you send. Used solely to reply to you.
• Download requests — your email address when you request a one-time download link from the Downloads page. Used to email the link and to count requests per file.
• Shop orders — if you place an order: the items, your shipping address, and the email address used at checkout. Payment is handled by the payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
• Admin / author accounts — if you have an account on the CMS side (currently only the site owner): name, email, and a bcrypt-hashed password. Plaintext passwords are never stored.
• Server logs — standard web server access logs (IP, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) kept for a short period for security and debugging. We do not enrich these with any analytics tooling.

We do not use Google Analytics, Plausible, Mixpanel, advertising identifiers, or any third-party tracking. There is no cookie consent banner because we do not set tracking cookies.

3. How we use your data

• To reply to messages you send through the contact form.
• To email one-time download links via Mailjet when you request a file from the Downloads page.
• To fulfil and ship shop orders, and email order confirmations.
• To keep the admin/author logged in via a JSON Web Token stored in your browser’s localStorage (no server-side cookie).

Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing.

4. Where your data is stored

• Database — MongoDB running on private infrastructure hosted in the EU.
• File storage — uploaded images and downloadable files are stored on the same private infrastructure.
• Email delivery — Mailjet (mailjet.com) is used solely to deliver transactional emails (contact-form replies, download links, order confirmations). Mailjet receives the recipient email address and the email content. See Mailjet’s privacy policy for details.

5. Cookies and local storage

NoobVenture does not set any tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. The site uses your browser’s localStorage to remember small preferences (theme, shopping cart contents, admin auth token). See the Cookie Policy for the full list and what each entry does.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of any data we hold.
• Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

Contact-form messages are kept for as long as the conversation is active and then archived for up to 12 months. Download-request emails are kept for 12 months. Shop orders are kept for 5 years for accounting purposes (Norwegian bokføringsloven). Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.

8. Children

NoobVenture is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has submitted data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
